Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ainara is a non-hormonal, mucoadhesive vaginal moisturizing gel designed to alleviate symptoms of vaginal atrophy and dryness. Developed by Italfarmaco, it works by forming a protective aqueous film on the vaginal mucosa, providing immediate hydration and long-lasting relief from discomfort, itching, and dyspareunia. The formulation typically includes polycarbophil and carbopol, which adhere to the vaginal wall to maintain moisture through physical water retention. It is indicated for women experiencing vaginal dryness due to menopause, postpartum changes, breastfeeding, or as a side effect of medical treatments such as chemotherapy or radiotherapy. Unlike hormonal treatments, Ainara does not contain estrogen, making it a suitable alternative for patients who prefer or require non-hormonal therapy.
