Overview
AIV001 is a novel prolonged-release intradermal formulation of the multi-kinase inhibitor axitinib, developed by AiViva BioPharma. It is designed for local treatment of dermatological conditions, targeting multiple pathways involved in fibroplasia and neovascularization. The drug acts as an antagonist of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR), aiming to reduce inflammation and fibrosis in conditions such as rosacea, inhibit neovascularization and cell proliferation in certain cancers (notably basal cell carcinoma), and minimize scarring during wound healing. Clinical studies have demonstrated its safety, skin tolerability, and efficacy in reducing fibrosis formation after surgical incisions as well as clinical clearance of malignant basal cells in mixed BCC lesions[1][3][4][6].
