Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AJ-024 + AJ-147 is a combination of two separate preclinical antibacterial candidates, AJ-024 and AJ-147, developed by A&J Science. Both compounds are semi-synthetic derivatives of 26-membered thiopeptide antibiotics (such as micrococcin P2) that target the bacterial ribosome to inhibit protein synthesis. AJ-024 is a nitroimidazole derivative of a 26-membered thiopeptide being developed for the treatment of *Clostridioides difficile* infection (CDI), demonstrating potent bactericidal activity and minimal impact on the gut microbiome. AJ-147 is being developed for the treatment of methicillin-resistant *Staphylococcus aureus* (MRSA) impetigo, showing high activity compared to mupirocin and the ability to downregulate pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β and IL-6.
