Overview

AJ-099(I) is an inhaled antimicrobial small molecule being developed by A&J Science for the treatment of refractory chronic lung infections. It exhibits broad-spectrum activity against several difficult-to-treat pathogens, including *Pseudomonas aeruginosa*, *Mycobacterium abscessus* (NTM-MAB), *Mycobacterium avium* complex (NTM-MAC), and multidrug-resistant *Mycobacterium tuberculosis* (MDR-TB). The drug is designed for direct delivery to the lungs via inhalation to maximize local concentration and efficacy while potentially reducing systemic side effects. Preclinical studies have demonstrated its effectiveness against antibiotic-resistant strains, including those resistant to clarithromycin and amikacin.
