Overview

AJ302 is a novel, selective histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6) inhibitor under development by AnnJi Pharmaceutical for the prevention and/or treatment of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN). Unlike non-selective HDAC inhibitors, AJ302 is designed to reduce drug toxicity by specifically targeting HDAC6, which plays a role in microtubule-based axonal transport and mitochondrial dynamics. Preclinical studies have shown that AJ302 increases α-tubulin acetylation, promotes neurite outgrowth and branching in paclitaxel-induced dorsal root ganglion neurons, and reverses mechanical allodynia in animal models of CIPN. The drug is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for safety and tolerability via intramuscular administration in healthy volunteers[1][2][3][4][5].
