Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AJ303 is a novel first-in-class small molecule compound with anti-fibrotic and anti-inflammatory properties. It is currently under development for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and other fibrotic diseases. Mechanistically, AJ303 acts as a selective inhibitor of histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6), which plays a role in regulating pro-inflammatory cytokines, epithelial-mesenchymal transition markers, and extracellular matrix proteins—key drivers of fibrosis. Preclinical studies have shown that AJ303 reduces levels of TGF-β and IL-6 in animal models of IPF and demonstrates favorable pharmacokinetics with good lung tissue distribution. The drug is being developed by AnnJi Pharmaceutical[1][2][3][5][9].
