AJA777

AJA777 is an investigational, orally active small-molecule ghrelin receptor agonist being developed by EA Pharma (a joint venture between Eisai and Ajinomoto) for the treatment of functional dyspepsia. As a mimetic of the endogenous hormone ghrelin, AJA777 targets the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHSR, specifically the GHSR-1a isoform) to stimulate gastrointestinal motility and accelerate gastric emptying. This mechanism is designed to alleviate the core symptoms of functional dyspepsia, such as postprandial fullness, early satiety, and upper abdominal bloating, which are often associated with impaired gastric accommodation and delayed emptying. AJA777 has been evaluated in Phase IIa clinical trials in Japan, specifically targeting patients with chronic dyspeptic symptoms.
