AJM347

AJM347 is an orally available small molecule prodrug that acts as a selective antagonist of the α4β7 integrin. It is being developed primarily for the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. The drug works by inhibiting the binding of α4β7 integrin on lymphocytes to MAdCAM-1, an adhesion molecule expressed on intestinal endothelial cells. This blockade prevents lymphocyte migration into inflamed gut tissue, thereby reducing inflammation. AJM347 is gut-selective and its active metabolite is CAN2281. The drug was originated and developed by EA Pharma, with Eisai also involved in development activities[1][2][3][5][7].
