Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AJN004 is an orally administered small molecule therapeutic candidate being developed by AltrixBio for the treatment of post-bariatric hypoglycemia (PBH), also known as reactive hypoglycemia. PBH is a complication of gastric bypass surgery characterized by the excessive secretion of incretin hormones (such as GLP-1) in response to nutrient ingestion, which triggers an exaggerated insulin response and subsequent dangerous drops in blood glucose levels. AJN004 is designed to blunt this incretin over-secretion, thereby stabilizing glucose metabolism and preventing hypoglycemic episodes. The drug is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
