Overview

AK-1830 is a potent, orally available small molecule inhibitor of tropomyosin receptor kinase A (TrkA), also known as the nerve growth factor receptor. It is being developed primarily for the treatment of pain associated with osteoarthritis and chronic low back pain. The drug acts as a TrkA antagonist, blocking NGF-mediated signaling to provide analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. Originally developed by Array BioPharma, now a subsidiary of Pfizer, it is currently under development by Asahi Kasei Pharma in Japan. Clinical trials have reached Phase II for both osteoarthritis and chronic low back pain[1][2][3][7].
