AK-321 is a small molecule targeted protein-protein interaction modulator developed by Akanocure Pharmaceuticals. It is designed to treat hard-to-treat and metastatic cancers by inhibiting the interaction between actin microfilaments and microtubules. Additionally, the drug interacts with cytoskeletal-associated proteins and Focal Adhesion Kinase (FAK). By targeting the cytoskeleton/adhesion pathway that cancer cells utilize for migration, AK-321 aims to limit the spread of metastatic tumors. The compound has demonstrated picomolar potency in preclinical studies and is being developed in collaboration with the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to progress toward clinical trials.
