AK1910

AK1910 is a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting the CD40 ligand (CD40L, also known as CD154), currently under development by Asahi Kasei Therapeutics for the treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). By binding to CD40L on the surface of activated T cells, AK1910 inhibits the interaction between CD40L and CD40 on B cells and other antigen-presenting cells. This blockade prevents B cell activation, germinal center formation, and the production of autoantibodies, which are central to the pathogenesis of SLE. AK1910 is designed to provide therapeutic benefit while potentially minimizing the thromboembolic risks historically associated with first-generation anti-CD40L antibodies. It is currently being evaluated in Phase I clinical trials for safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers and SLE patients.
