Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AK1960 is a preclinical small molecule endothelin A (ETA) receptor antagonist being developed for the treatment of refractory chronic kidney disease (CKD). Discovered by Alchemedicine using its proprietary HiSAP™ drug discovery platform, the compound was licensed to Asahi Kasei Pharma in June 2022 for worldwide development, manufacturing, and commercialization. By selectively blocking the ETA receptor, AK1960 aims to reduce renal vasoconstriction, inflammation, and fibrosis, which are primary drivers of disease progression in patients with chronic kidney disease who do not respond adequately to standard therapies.
