Overview

AKC-2001 is a preclinical-stage cell therapy being developed by Akrocell Biosciences for the treatment of knee cartilage damage. The therapy is built upon the proprietary SlabON® platform, a tissue structure formation technology that integrates biocompatible materials with cellular components to engineer regenerative tissue. According to company pipeline documentation, AKC-2001 utilizes hepatocytes (liver cells) to promote the repair and regeneration of knee cartilage. The project was selected for the South Korean Tech Incubator Program for Startup (TIPS) in July 2022 and is currently undergoing preclinical evaluation.
