AKG-100

AKG-100 is a highly stabilized, pegylated liposomal formulation of a novel oxazolidinone antibiotic developed by Akagera Medicines. It is designed as a long-acting injectable for the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis (TB), including drug-resistant forms. The liposomal encapsulation enhances drug stability, solubility, and retention at the site of action while reducing toxicity and allowing for sustained release and longer circulation times. This approach aims to improve anti-TB activity and patient compliance through less frequent intravenous dosing. As of April 2025, AKG-100 is in Phase 1 clinical trials for TB and has shown promising preclinical results[1][2][3][4][5].
