Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AKI0706 is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody developed by Amoytop Biotech for the prevention of recurrence in patients with *Clostridioides difficile* infection (CDI). The antibody specifically targets and neutralizes Toxin B (TcdB), a key virulence factor produced by *C. difficile* that causes colonic mucosal damage, inflammation, and clinical symptoms. By binding to TcdB, AKI0706 prevents the toxin from interacting with host cells, thereby mitigating the damage caused by the infection and reducing the likelihood of subsequent episodes. This mechanism of action is analogous to that of the FDA-approved antibody bezlotoxumab.
