Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Akkermansia muciniphila EB-AMDK 27 is a next-generation probiotic bacterial strain developed by the South Korean company Enterobiome. Isolated from healthy human fecal samples, this specific strain (deposit number KCTC 13758BP) is a live bacterial therapeutic designed to treat metabolic and inflammatory diseases. Preclinical studies in high-fat diet-induced obese mice have demonstrated its ability to inhibit lipid accumulation, improve glucose homeostasis and insulin sensitivity, and restore gut barrier integrity. The strain functions as a mucin-degrading, anaerobic, Gram-negative bacterium that modulates the gut microbiota to suppress appetite and prevent body weight gain.
