Overview

**Akkermansia muciniphila EB-AMDK19** is a specific clade I (AmI) strain of the mucin-degrading gut bacterium Akkermansia muciniphila, developed and manufactured in a heat-killed (pasteurized) formulation for use as a next-generation probiotic. This strain has been studied for alleviating subacute respiratory symptoms, reducing breathlessness and cough in humans, and for modulating allergic airway inflammation, metabolic parameters, and obesity-related conditions in preclinical models. The mechanism of action appears to involve modulation of the gut–lung axis and suppression of Th2-mediated immune responses, including decreased IL-4 and IL-13 cytokine production, increased short-chain fatty acid concentrations, improved intestinal barrier function, and effects on inflammatory and metabolic parameters. EB-AMDK19 has demonstrated a favorable safety profile with no severe adverse events in clinical studies[1][2][3][4][5][9].
