Overview

**AKL-0707 is a proprietary 29-amino acid peptide analogue of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH), described as a "super-agonist" of GHRH.** It was developed to stimulate endogenous growth hormone (GH) secretion, increasing both 24-hour GH secretion and serum insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) levels. In clinical studies, AKL-0707 demonstrated the potential to improve protein anabolism, nutritional status, increase fat-free mass, and decrease fat mass in patients with advanced chronic kidney disease. The drug was developed for conditions associated with protein-energy wasting, particularly related to chronic kidney disease, and was discontinued for nutrition disorders.
