Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AKL003 is an investigational alpha Klotho mRNA therapeutic being developed by Klothea Bio. It is designed to support endogenous supplementation by delivering a proprietary alpha Klotho mRNA sequence in a lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulation, enabling the body's own cells to produce the alpha Klotho protein using their cellular machinery. Alpha Klotho is a longevity-associated protein whose levels typically decline with age, and its restoration is intended to target metabolic syndrome and other age-associated conditions, including Alzheimer's disease, obesity, and cardiovascular diseases. The drug is administered intravenously and is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to assess its potential in extending human lifespan and healthspan.
