AKM Lab-01

**AKM Lab-01** is a novel strain of the probiotic bacterium *Akkermansia muciniphila* developed for oral administration as an enteric-coated formulation (34B TFU/day). It is being investigated in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial involving 60 participants with hypercholesterolemia to assess its safety and efficacy in reducing cholesterol levels through modulation of the gut microbiome. *A. muciniphila* is recognized for its role in regulating metabolic functions, improving gut barrier integrity, and combating obesity and metabolic disorders by degrading mucin and producing short-chain fatty acids that influence host metabolism and immune responses.
