Aknicare Cleanser

Aknicare Cleanser is a topical dermatological product used as an adjuvant therapy for the treatment of mild to moderate acne vulgaris. It is a combination product containing triethyl citrate and pyruvic acid as its primary active ingredients. Triethyl citrate acts as a pro-drug that is hydrolyzed by bacterial lipases into citric acid, which lowers the skin's pH and inhibits the activity of *Cutibacterium acnes* (formerly *Propionibacterium acnes*). Pyruvic acid provides keratolytic properties, facilitating the exfoliation of the stratum corneum and preventing follicular occlusion and comedone formation. The product is typically used as part of a multi-step regimen alongside other Aknicare products and prescription treatments like adapalene to manage sebum production, inflammation, and bacterial colonization.
