Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**AKP-02** is a topical cutaneous spray formulation combining calcipotriol (50 μg/g) and betamethasone dipropionate (0.5 mg/g), developed by Lipidor AB using their patented AKVANO® technology to create a patient-friendly spray for mild to moderate plaque psoriasis on the body and scalp. Calcipotriol, a vitamin D analogue, normalizes skin cell proliferation and differentiation, while betamethasone, a corticosteroid, reduces inflammation and suppresses immune responses. A Phase III trial (NCT05249972) completed in 2022 failed to demonstrate non-inferiority to Enstilar (the market-leading foam with identical actives) but showed good efficacy versus placebo; AKP-02G2, an improved reformulation, is now in a new Phase III study.[1][2][3][9][12][19]
