Overview

**AKS-321d** is a once-weekly subcutaneous insulin therapy developed by Akston Biosciences for the treatment of diabetes in dogs, utilizing the company's Ambifect Fc-fusion protein platform. It consists of a recombinant FcRn-binding insulin fusion protein that leverages FcRn-mediated recycling to achieve an extended plasma half-life and resistance to proteolysis, enabling weekly dosing to replace current twice-daily veterinary insulins and improve owner compliance and pet quality of life. Akston has partnered with Dechra Pharmaceuticals for its development and commercialization, following successful proof-of-concept studies in client-owned diabetic dogs.[1][2][4][11]
