AKS-452 is a biologically engineered subunit vaccine designed for the prevention of COVID-19. It consists of an Fc fusion protein combining the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein with a human IgG1 Fc fragment. This design enhances immunogenicity by increasing antigen uptake via Fc gamma receptors on antigen-presenting cells and prolongs exposure through neonatal Fc receptor recycling. The vaccine is thermostable, shelf-stable at room temperature for six months, and can be manufactured using established antibody production methods at high volume and low cost. Clinical studies have shown that AKS-452 induces robust neutralizing antibody responses against multiple SARS-CoV-2 variants (including Delta and Omicron), with favorable safety and immunogenicity profiles in both animal models and human trials[1][3][5][7][10]. It is administered via subcutaneous or intramuscular injection.
