Akt3 shRNA is a short hairpin RNA (shRNA) sequence designed to silence the expression of the Akt3 (PKB gamma) isoform through RNA interference. Akt3 is one of three closely related serine/threonine-protein kinases (Akt1, Akt2, and Akt3) that regulate diverse cellular processes including growth, survival, and metabolism. In oncology research, specifically in endometrial carcinoma models, Akt3 shRNA is utilized to investigate the isoform's role in chemoresistance. Studies have shown that silencing Akt3 can sensitize resistant cancer cells to chemotherapeutic agents such as cisplatin and doxorubicin, suggesting that Akt3 is a potential therapeutic target for overcoming drug resistance in endometrial cancers.
