Overview

AKY-2519 is a miniprotein radioconjugate (MRC) being developed by Aktis Oncology for the treatment of various solid tumors, including prostate and lung cancers. It targets B7-H3 (CD276), a protein frequently overexpressed in many solid malignancies. The drug utilizes actinium-225 (225Ac), an alpha-emitting radioisotope, to deliver high-energy, short-range radiation directly to tumor cells, causing lethal double-strand DNA breaks. The miniprotein scaffold is designed to be smaller than traditional antibodies, facilitating rapid tumor penetration and internalization while maintaining high affinity and prolonged retention, potentially improving the therapeutic index compared to larger radiopharmaceuticals.
