Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AL-001 is a gene therapy product developed by Beijing Anlong Biopharmaceutical Co., Ltd. for the treatment of wet age-related macular degeneration (wAMD). It is designed to be administered as a single dose via suprachoroidal space injection, a novel delivery route intended to optimize drug distribution to the posterior segment of the eye. The therapy functions as a Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) inhibitor, aiming to provide long-term suppression of VEGF to reduce the treatment burden associated with frequent intravitreal injections of standard anti-VEGF agents. AL-001 is currently being evaluated in Phase II clinical trials for patients who have previously shown an anatomic response to anti-VEGF therapy.
