AL-309

AL-309 is an investigational neuroprotective small molecule drug candidate derived from activity-dependent neurotrophic factor (ADNF) research and developed by Allon Therapeutics for the treatment of peripheral neuropathies and potentially other central nervous system disorders.[1][7][4] Preclinical data referenced by the sponsor indicate that AL-309 is orally bioavailable, with additional evaluation of subcutaneous administration, and that related ADNF-derived peptides such as NAP and D-SAL protect neurons from amyloid beta toxicity and tauopathy, suggesting a cytoprotective mechanism that may involve stabilization of microtubules and preservation of neuronal structure and function.[1][7][4] The precise molecular target and mechanism of action of AL-309 remain under investigation, but the program is positioned as a first-in-class approach to peripheral nerve protection using ADNF-based pharmacology.[1][7][4]
