Overview

AL101-ROSA is a botanical drug candidate being developed by AngioLab for the treatment of rosacea. It is a small-molecule-based therapeutic derived from a standardized mixture of plant extracts, primarily targeting the underlying pathophysiology of rosacea through the inhibition of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) and Matrix Metalloproteinases (MMPs). By suppressing these mediators, AL101-ROSA aims to inhibit pathological angiogenesis (neovascularization) and tissue remodeling/inflammation, which are key contributors to the persistent facial erythema and inflammatory lesions characteristic of rosacea. Unlike many conventional rosacea treatments that are applied topically, AL101 is often developed as an oral therapeutic to provide systemic anti-angiogenic and anti-inflammatory effects.
