Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ALA-1000 is a long-acting, sustained-release injectable prodrug formulation of buprenorphine developed for the treatment of opioid use disorder (OUD) and potentially chronic pain. It utilizes Alar Pharmaceuticals' proprietary In-Relar sustained release drug delivery platform to provide therapeutic levels of buprenorphine for up to three months following a single subcutaneous injection. This extended duration aims to improve patient compliance, reduce the risk of misuse or accidental exposure, and address unmet needs in OUD management by offering less frequent dosing options. Clinical studies have demonstrated favorable safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetic profiles with low initial burst and no dose dumping effect. The drug is currently advancing toward Phase III clinical trials[1][2][3][5][8].
