Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ALA-1000 is a long-acting injectable (LAI) subcutaneous depot formulation of buprenorphine developed by Alar Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of opioid use disorder (OUD). It is designed as a sustained-release prodrug that provides therapeutically effective plasma levels of buprenorphine for at least three months, potentially reducing dosing frequency to four times per year. The formulation utilizes Alar's proprietary depot technology, which features a low-viscosity solution and small injection volume. In October 2023, Indivior acquired the exclusive global rights (excluding China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau) to develop and commercialize ALA-1000. The drug has completed Phase 2 clinical trials and is intended to follow the 505(b)(2) regulatory pathway for approval.
