ALA-105 is an allogeneic off-the-shelf invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cell therapy engineered to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) targeting Claudin 18.2 (CLDN18.2), a protein abnormally exposed on the surface of several solid tumors including gastric cancer, gastroesophageal junction cancer, pancreatic cancer, and some forms of lung and ovarian cancers. The therapy uses Sparx’s novel antibody sequence SPX-101 to direct iNKT cells against CLDN18.2-expressing tumor cells. Developed by Arovella Therapeutics under license from Sparx Group, it is currently in preclinical development for the treatment of gastric and pancreatic cancers[1][2][3].
