Overview

ALA-4000 is a long-acting, sustained-release injectable formulation of apomorphine being developed by Alar Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. Apomorphine is a non-ergoline dopamine agonist that acts on D1-like and D2-like receptors. The ALA-4000 formulation is designed to provide continuous dopaminergic stimulation, potentially reducing the "off" periods and motor fluctuations associated with standard levodopa therapy while minimizing the side effects and administration burden of current apomorphine delivery methods, such as frequent subcutaneous injections or continuous infusion pumps. It is currently in the pre-clinical stage of development.
