Alamin

Alamin is a brand name for Metaraminol, a sympathomimetic medication primarily used as a vasopressor to prevent and treat hypotension, particularly as a complication of anesthesia. Its mechanism of action involves both indirect and direct effects. It primarily acts by displacing norepinephrine from neuronal vesicles, leading to an indirect sympathomimetic effect. Additionally, at higher doses, it directly stimulates alpha-1 adrenergic receptors, causing vasoconstriction, and exhibits some beta-1 adrenergic agonist effects, contributing to increased blood pressure and positive inotropy. It is administered intravenously or intramuscularly.
