Overview

Alarelin is a synthetic nonapeptide and a potent agonist of the gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) receptor. By binding to GnRH receptors in the pituitary gland, it initially stimulates the release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). Prolonged administration leads to receptor downregulation and desensitization, effectively suppressing the pituitary-gonadal axis and reducing the production of sex steroids. Manufactured as an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) by Soho-Yiming Pharmaceuticals, it is utilized in the treatment of hormone-dependent conditions such as endometriosis and uterine fibroids, as well as in fertility protocols for ovulation induction. It is also widely used in research and veterinary applications due to its high biological activity compared to natural GnRH.
