Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Albenatide** is a long-acting synthetic peptide analog of exendin-4, a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist designed for once-weekly subcutaneous injection to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D). It employs PC-DAC™ technology to conjugate the active peptide to recombinant human albumin, extending its half-life and improving patient compliance compared to daily GLP-1 therapies. Developed initially by ConjuChem Biotechnologies and advanced in China by Hebei Changshan Biochemical Pharmaceutical (Kaijiejian Biopharmaceutical) in collaboration with Albumedix, albenatide has demonstrated efficacy in improving glycemic control in phase II trials and is currently in phase III trials, with NDA/BLA filing and IND approval for obesity.[1][2][4][5]
