Overview

Albizia julibrissin leaf extract (AJLE) is a botanical extract derived from the leaves of the silk tree, currently being investigated for its anti-cancer properties, particularly in pancreatic cancer. Prepared as a hot water extract, AJLE has demonstrated the ability to inhibit cell proliferation and induce apoptosis in pancreatic cancer cells. Its mechanism of action involves the disruption of oncogenic signaling pathways, specifically the suppression of MAPK and PI3K/AKT pathways, while simultaneously upregulating EGFR expression to trigger EGFR-mediated apoptosis. Preclinical studies in xenograft mouse models have shown dose-dependent tumor growth reduction without significant systemic toxicity to the liver or kidneys.
