Overview

Albu-Res is a radiopharmaceutical consisting of 99mTc-labelled human albumin colloid with a particle size ranging from 0.2 to 3 micrometers. It is utilized as a diagnostic agent for lymphatic mapping and sentinel node biopsy, particularly in breast cancer patients. The drug is administered via intratumoral injection to visualize sentinel nodes in the axilla, aiding in surgical planning and assessment of lymphatic spread. Studies have compared its efficacy in visualizing sentinel nodes with other radiopharmaceuticals, indicating its role in improving the success rate of identification, although smaller particle sizes may offer advantages in certain aspects of node visualization.
