WLB301 is an albumin-bound nanoparticle formulation of paclitaxel (nab-paclitaxel) developed by Shenzhen Wanle Pharmaceutical. As a microtubule-stabilizing agent, it binds to tubulin and promotes the assembly of microtubules while inhibiting their depolymerization, which leads to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. The nanoparticle albumin-bound (nab) technology utilizes human albumin to transport paclitaxel, allowing for the delivery of higher drug concentrations to tumor sites via albumin-mediated transcytosis. This formulation eliminates the need for solvent-based vehicles like Cremophor EL, thereby reducing the risk of severe hypersensitivity reactions and allowing for shorter infusion times without the requirement for extensive premedication. WLB301 is primarily being developed for the treatment of metastatic breast cancer.
