Overview

This is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of albumin-bound paclitaxel (nab-paclitaxel) and oxaliplatin. Albumin-bound paclitaxel is a nanoparticle formulation of the microtubule inhibitor paclitaxel, which allows for solvent-free delivery and improved tolerability. Oxaliplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic that induces DNA crosslinking and apoptosis in cancer cells. The combination has been investigated primarily in gastrointestinal cancers, including advanced gastric cancer and upper gastrointestinal cancers, often alongside S-1 or leucovorin as part of multi-drug regimens[8]. Nab-paclitaxel disrupts microtubule function by stabilizing tubulin polymers, leading to cell cycle arrest at the G2/M phase; oxaliplatin forms DNA adducts that inhibit DNA replication and transcription, resulting in cell death.
