Overview

Albumin platelet-rich fibrin (Alb-PRF) is an autologous biologic material developed for regenerative medicine, specifically evaluated by Mansoura University for enhancing healing after mandibular third molar extractions. It is produced by mixing the patient's own liquid platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) with heated, denatured albumin derived from platelet-poor plasma (PPP). This process creates a stable, long-lasting fibrin-albumin scaffold that persists for 4-6 months, significantly longer than traditional PRF. The matrix serves as a reservoir for the sustained release of growth factors, platelets, and leukocytes, which work together to promote tissue regeneration, reduce postoperative pain and swelling, and accelerate wound healing at the extraction site.
