Overview

Albusomatropin (also known as TV-1106) is a long-acting recombinant fusion protein developed for the treatment of growth hormone deficiency (GHD) in adults and children. It is composed of recombinant human growth hormone (somatropin) genetically fused to recombinant human serum albumin (HSA). This fusion significantly extends the half-life of the growth hormone by utilizing the neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn)-mediated recycling pathway of albumin, thereby reducing the injection frequency from daily to once weekly. Albusomatropin binds to and activates the growth hormone receptor (GHR), triggering the JAK2/STAT5 signaling pathway, which stimulates the production of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) and promotes linear growth and metabolic health. While originally developed by Teva Pharmaceuticals, development has also been pursued by other entities such as Unokin Biological Engineering in China.
