Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Albutamol Plus is an oral combination therapy developed by Centaur Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of respiratory conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It is formulated as a fixed-dose combination containing three active ingredients: salbutamol (a short-acting beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist), etofylline (a xanthine derivative that acts as a phosphodiesterase inhibitor and adenosine receptor antagonist), and bromhexine (a mucolytic agent). Together, these components provide synergistic therapeutic effects: salbutamol and etofylline act as bronchodilators to relax airway smooth muscle and improve airflow, while bromhexine reduces mucus viscosity and enhances mucociliary clearance to facilitate expectoration. Albutamol Plus is approved and marketed in India.
