Albuvir

Albuvir is a broad-spectrum antiviral agent developed by nanoigel, currently in preclinical development for the treatment of various viral infections in warm-blooded animals, including influenza, coronavirus, and herpesvirus. The drug is composed of combinatorial oligopeptide derivatives that function by interfering with the nuclear import and export of the viral genome. Specifically, it targets the Nuclear Localization Signal (NLS) complex, which is essential for the transport of viral genetic material into and out of the host cell nucleus. By disrupting this critical step in the viral replication cycle, Albuvir prevents the virus from utilizing the host's nuclear machinery, thereby inhibiting viral proliferation across diverse viral families.
