ALC01 is an allogenic cell therapy candidate composed of induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived dopamine progenitor cells (iPSC-DAPs). Developed by iCamuno Biotherapeutics, it is specifically designed for the treatment of advanced Parkinson's disease. The therapy is administered via stereotactic intracerebral injection directly into the putamen on each side of the brain. The primary therapeutic objective is to replace the dopaminergic neurons that have degenerated during the progression of the disease. Once transplanted, these progenitor cells are intended to mature into functional neurons that integrate into the brain's circuitry and restore endogenous dopamine production, thereby improving motor function and quality of life for patients who no longer benefit sufficiently from conventional drug treatments.
