Overview

Alcloxa is an aluminum salt of allantoin, chemically known as aluminum chlorohydroxyallantoinate. It combines the astringent and mild antimicrobial properties of aluminum compounds with the soothing, healing, keratolytic, and anti-irritant effects of allantoin. Alcloxa acts primarily as an antiperspirant by reducing sweat production through swelling and plugging of sweat gland ducts. Its bacteriostatic action provides deodorizing effects by inhibiting bacterial growth via reduced water availability and direct antimicrobial activity from the aluminum component. The compound is well tolerated compared to other aluminum salts due to the presence of allantoin, which minimizes irritation. Alcloxa is used in a variety of over-the-counter topical products for conditions such as minor skin irritations (including eczema), acne, foot odor control, diaper rash, hemorrhoids (as a keratolytic agent), and oral care for sensitive teeth or gum disease[1][3][4][5][7].
