ALCOCID

ALCOCID is a finished generic pharmaceutical combination formulation developed and marketed by Zytras Life Sciences. It is composed of sucralfate (1000mg) and oxetacaine (20mg) in a syrup/suspension form. Sucralfate acts as a mucosal protective agent; in the acidic environment of the stomach, it polymerizes to form a viscous, adhesive paste that binds to the surface of ulcers, creating a physical barrier against gastric acid, pepsin, and bile salts. Oxetacaine is a potent local anesthetic that remains effective at low pH levels; it provides rapid pain relief by numbing the gastric mucosa and may also inhibit the release of gastrin, thereby reducing acid production. The medication is primarily used to treat acidity, heartburn, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and both gastric and duodenal ulcers.
