Overview

ALD-301 is an autologous stem cell therapy composed of a population of stem and progenitor cells isolated from a patient's own bone marrow using Aldagen's proprietary technology. The therapy specifically selects for cells expressing high levels of aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH-bright cells), which are believed to include hematopoietic, endothelial, mesenchymal, and neural progenitor cells necessary for ischemic tissue repair. The primary mechanism of action involves inducing angiogenesis and replacing damaged or lost cells in ischemic tissues. ALD-301 has been developed primarily for the treatment of critical limb ischemia (CLI) and peripheral arterial occlusive disorders, with clinical studies showing improvements in blood flow and clinical status in affected patients[1][3][5]. The drug was developed by Aldagen in collaboration with the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston[1].
