**ALD405** is a monoclonal antibody that targets and neutralizes calcitonin gene-related peptide (**CGRP**) to prevent and treat migraine-like pain. In preclinical rodent models, ALD405 effectively reduces both acute and basal hyperalgesia and reverses cephalic mechanical hypersensitivity. The effect of a single dose can last for several days, with maximal efficacy evident from hours after injection up to four days, gradually diminishing thereafter. The site of action is believed to be outside the blood-brain barrier, as peripheral administration is effective while central (intracerebroventricular) administration is not. ALD405 does not impair motor function or general health in animal studies, and no significant adverse effects were observed.
